Service Description |
The Speech Pathology services are provided for the Melton and Moorabool Shires. The service is predominantly centre-based with time allocated in Melton and Bacchus Marsh according to demand. The Speech Pathologist provides extensive services to children under school age and to adults. Paediatric services include individual assessment and therapy sessions in the areas of language, phonology, feeding and saliva management, fluency and voice. Pre-school groups are offered in language and phonology, with home programming provided for children with mild delays. Assistance for children and toddlers with feeding concerns is offered, including liaison with Maternal and Child Health Nurses and Hospital staff. Workshops and information sessions can be conducted on request. These can include groups for parents or other professionals on areas such as language development, fluency and vocal care in children. Consultation and liaison is provided to pre-school, childcare and early intervention staff that are working with current clients. Adult services include assessment and therapy for fluency, voice and dysphagia clients. In-services on dysphagia can be offered to staff and carers from homes, aged residential care units and hostels. |
