Service Description

The Family Violence Prevention Program (FVPP) is an integrated program with components designed to meet the needs of women, men and children who have been affected by issues of family violence.

Separate services for women, men and children, but also offer family group sessions where appropriate.

All program components are based on a supportive empowerment model using peer educators and experienced staff. Men’s programs also include an on-going support group and time limited groups for behaviour change. Men’s groups are conducted after hours. Men’s partners and/or ex-partners are also involved in aspects of the programs.

Childcare is provided to all programs at no cost to the client.

Eligibility

All residents of Melton and Moorabool Shires include those who attend school or work in the Melton and Moorabool Shires.

Entry to all parts of the FVPP is by intake assessment interview.

(NB. The men’s program is Statewide).

Access hours

9.00am – 5.00pm.

But preferably through Counsellor – Duty Intake 9.00am to 12.00pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Referral process

Self-referral or from General Practitioner and other health professionals.

Cost to client

$15.00 per visit, $10.00 for HACC clients and Health Care Card holders. Exemptions can be made following discussion with the counsellor. Workcover and Veteran Affairs’ client’s fees as directed. Men’s program: Assessment sessions $25.00, Concession $15.00.
