Service Description

The confidential Needle and Syringe Program offers free injecting equipment (syringes, needles, swabs, containers) and safe retrieval of used equipment.

Prepared packs (with 5 syringes) are available at the front desks, by the administration staff. Other requests are dealt with by the Duty Worker or the Community Health Nurse including for referral.

The Community Health Nurse is delivering Safer Behaviour messages and is available for education or support in the community (i.e. retrieval of equipment).

Eligibility

Any clients presenting, including with diabetes.

Access hours

Bacchus Marsh Community Health Centre and Melton Community Health Centre, 9.00m – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Open until 7.00pm on Wednesdays for young clients at Melton Community Health Centre (see ‘Backdoor Clinic’).
