Every month internal performance indicators are collected from all areas of the Hospital. These indicators, or statistics, cover a wide range of care that the Health Service provides, including:

• number of patients admitted to hospital and discharged
• average length of stay for people admitted to hospital
• number of operations
• number of births
• number of x-rays taken

These indicators are reported to the Board with any relevant comments made. Some of the comments made in the last few months include:

• ‘Hospital in the Home numbers were at an annual high this month with 11.9% of discharges from hospital being treated under this program at home’
• ‘Emergency Services presentations now appear to be plateauing with around 6000 presentations for the year’
• ‘Length of stay in all areas continues to fall in line with industry trends’
