Statutory Requirements

Under the Directions for the Minister for Finance, part 9.1.3 (iv) it is mandatory for Djerriwarrh Health Services to report on statutory requirements, including legislative changes that have had an impact on the operations of Djerriwarrh Health Services. The information listed in the aforementioned Direction is available to the Minister, members of Parliament and the public on request to the Chief Executive.

Djerriwarrh Health Services is compliant with the Whistleblower’s Protection Act 2001. No disclosures have been made since the commencement of the Act in January 2002.

Freedom of Information

Djerriwarrh Health Services is an agency subject to the Freedom of Information Act (Victoria) 1982. As required under the Act, Djerriwarrh Health Services has nominated Robert Bruce Marshall as the Principal Officer and Glenda Cairns as the Freedom of Information Officer. A legislated fee of $20 per application applies and 20 cents a page.

Complaints

The management of complaints is an integral component of the successful implementation of a quality service. Complaints are one of the many conduits by which managers can review services to enhance and meet community expectations. The Chief Executive will respond to all complaints within seven (7) working days without exception. The Board monitors all complaints received by the Health Service.

Staffing

Djerriwarrh Health Services continues to be actively committed to complying with the Public Authorities Equal Opportunity Act 1970. The Health Service has a comprehensive set of objectives and key performance indicators aimed at ensuring equal opportunities to all staff. Policy and procedures are in place that ensure all vacancies for positions are advertised internally without exception in the first instance. Staffing levels have increased in line with designated funded service expansion. The Health Service’s level of staff employed as at 30th June 2006 was 189.9 EFT. The designated categories were:
